About the Meetup:
Hank Shocklee – music producer, sound designer, composer, president of Shocklee Entertainment and sonic architect.
Brian Jackson recently completed a remix for UK duo Bombay Dub Orchestra. He is going to share his process for combining multi-track recordings of world musicians with synthetic textures for an electronic remix. The final result relied heavily on many of Live’s features, especially Warping, Vocoder, and Groove. One of the first Ableton Certified Trainers, Brian is Co-Founder and Director Of Education at Devotion Gallery.
Dennis DeSantis is the Head of Documentation for Ableton. He will discuss among other things, using Live’s slice-to-MIDI functionality for things other than drums, a method he’s been using lately for vocals.
Tony Grund & Sam Walker – Tony Grund [Nervous Records] and Sam Walker [formerly of Ableton, NYC] collaborate together using Live and they will give a presentation of their workflow and discuss how they use Ableton Live to make quick arrangements and twist audio and loops into new and interesting sound bytes.
DJ Shakey – the founder of new york’s electronic music showcase, the Warper Party. Shakey just completed an artist-in-residency at the Clocktower Gallery in Manhattan and will be performing with and speaking about her creation the VoltAxe controller.
Thomas Piper is the owner of People’s Republic of Sound will break down one of his tracks and demonstrate how he uses Ableton Live for his productions.
TechCampNYC is the meetup + network series for the community of future music, audio & creative technologies / / presented by shocklee.com.
Devotion Learn is the Ableton Certified Training Center and Electronic Music & Media School component of Devotion – an artist owned, artist operated exhibition, education, and creative-tech community space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This event is recommended for advanced and intermediate users of Ableton and will be hosted by our own Hank Shocklee and Brian Jackson of Devotion Learn. Space is limited and will be first come first serve! RSVP is required, but does not guarantee there will be room.
